At the center of it all: How personality amplifies centrality’s effects on physics ability

The social aspect of education is an important part the learning process. In this study two research questions were asked to explore idea. Social network analysis provided multiple measures AP Physics 1 students’ centrality. These used predict physics achievement. Further, survey results measuring extroversion (EPI, alpha=.84-.94), motivation (PGOS, alpha=.64-.83), and self-efficacy (SOSESC, alpha=.94) determine personality characteristics. as moderators for moderation analysis. sample consisted 106 students from a large, Midwestern, suburban high school taking 1. Numerous centrality significantly correlated with Extroversion increased effect in most cases, whereas did not change centrality-achievement relationship. having many, quality connections was beneficial physics, but characteristics must also be included pedagogical decisions. Based on results, teachers are strongly advised account student when forming groups.
